Arundhati Sanyal
Arundhati Sanyal, Senior Faculty Associate in the English Department at Seton Hall University and Director, Writing Center at the university. Her outstanding Dissertation is on Women’s Writing and Feminist Literature. She has published on Oscar Wilde, Yeats, and Tagore, as well as on Writing Center pedagogy. Her community work is inspired by her husband Tapas Sanyal’s leadership roles in The Garden State Cultural Association (GSCA, NJ) and other organizations.
Arundhati Sanyal came to the United States as a graduate student after her marriage to Tapas Sanyal. A student at Presidency College and Calcutta University where she stood first in her Bachelor of Arts, she pursued a MA degree at Rutgers University of New Jersey and then went on to complete her doctoral studies in The Graduate Center, the City University of New York where she wrote a dissertation on George Eliot’s novels for which she received “Adrienne Aulander Munich Prize for an Outstanding Dissertation Concerned With Women’s Writing and Feminist Literature” (2001). Her research interests include Nineteenth-century studies, Post-colonial literature, and Composition studies with a specific focus on Writing Center pedagogy. She has taught at Rutgers, Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, Middlesex County College, Rider University, and Seton Hall University for the past thirty years.
At present, she is a Senior Faculty Associate in the English Department at Seton Hall University and Director, Writing Center at the university. She teaches writing, nineteenth-century British literature, theory, philosophy, and religious studies in the English department, the University Core, and the Honors program. In 2018 she received the President’s Award for Student Services at Seton Hall University.
Arundhati’s community work is inspired by her husband Tapas’ active involvement with and work for the community through his membership and leadership functions in Garden State Cultural Association (GSCA, NJ). She has worked with this organization by helping organize community and cultural events. She has also helped organize and present fund-raisers for organizations such as Bharat Sebashram Sangha and Dakshineshwar Ramkrishna Adya Sangha (DRSA). She has participated in efforts to raise money and support for local food kitchens like Elijah’s Kitchen, New Brunswick, NJ. Her work has also included editing of the community magazine of GSCA, “Spandan” which has now evolved into a full-scale online magazine through the efforts of younger generations of editors. She has actively participated in NABC cultural events as a participant in singing, chanting, and narrating including her well-received program on Tagore – “Shatakanthe Rabindranath”. Her work within the community is ongoing and ever-evolving and one of the most precious blessings of her experience in the diaspora.

Rubella Sanyal Goswami
Rubella Sanyal Goswami, frequently reaching out to the entire Tri-State Community with musical and dance shows, has had a highly successful career trajectory over the past two decades, working in the fields of science & technology research, education, and policy. She holds the unique distinction of being employed in all of the three major sectors in her field – academia, corporate, and Government.

Reeta Baidyaroy
Attorney-at-Law, and Artistic Director, RITAM Academy of Dance
Reeta Baidyaroy, an Attorney-at-Law, and Artistic Director, RITAM Academy of Dance, Princeton, New Jersey. Her classical and creative works have been showcased at the United Nations, The Indian Consulate in New York, Cultural Association of Bengal (CAB), North American Bengali Conferences, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and many others.
Reeta Baidyaroy is a recognized dance artist of distinction, a well-known teacher, and a choreographer in the greater New York and New Jersey areas. Trained in India and abroad under eminent Gurus including the Late Shrimati Padmini Ramachandran (Bharatanatyam), Late Padmashri Sri Muralidhar Majhi, Legendary Devjani Chalia, she is the Founder and Artistic Director of RITAM Academy of Dance in Princeton, New Jersey. RITAM Academy trains students in classical arts, in particular Bharatanatyam. The school conducts Arangetrams of deserving students and performs at educational & socio-religious institutions to promote diverse artistic exchanges. Reeta’s classical and creative works have been showcased at the United Nations, The Indian Consulate in New York, Cultural Association of Bengal (CAB), North American Bengali Conferences, Philadelphia Museum of Art, FIA dance competitions, American Indian Association, Cornell University, Columbia University, Garden State Puja Association, Tagore Society of NY, and Kollol of NJ, to name a few. She is also one of the few artists invited to perform at the First Deepavali Festival of New York at South Street Seaport, where her students were featured in the NY Times. As alumni of Viswa- Bharati University, founded by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, she has choreographed, directed, and performed in several dance dramas,
including ‘Shyama’, ‘Sagarika’, ‘Chandalika’, ‘Tasher Desh’.
Other notable works include – ‘The Road to Dance’(original ballet), ‘Rhythms of India’ (a kaleidoscope of classical & folk dances of India), ‘Tagore – A Praise Without End’ & a spectacular classical ballet inspired by Kalidasa’s epic poem “Kumarashambhav”. Reeta considers her dancing a special gift from God meant to be shared so as to inspire the younger generation to preserve our cultural heritage while teaching spiritual values and artistic and aesthetic excellence. To that end, for the past thirty years, she has worked tirelessly to continue a legacy of cultural ambassadorship. Reeta is also an Attorney and a member of the NJ State Bar Association. She is perhaps the first women attorney, of her generation, in the Indian Bengali community of New Jersey. Her private practice focuses on various aspects of law affecting the immigrant community, and she works closely with community leaders to raise awareness on issues such as domestic violence. She holds a Master’s degree in English and Fine Arts and a Juris Doctorate.

Ranjita Chakrabarty
Ranjita Chakrabarty was busy collecting donations to help people in West Bengal hit by the second wave of the pandemic when we contacted her. She quoted Sreeshti and said:
To overcome this and provide support to the maximum and the needy ones, Sreeshti in New Jersey collaborates with MUKTI to extend support to the corona impacted people with Oxygen & Medical kit support. We are procuring a large number of Oxygen Concentrator, which will extract Oxygen from the air and supply directly 5/10 ltr per min. One Oxygen concentrator will serve around 10 patients. Each Oxygen Concentrator costing us around 50,000 INR. Please come forward to save lives in the deadliest crisis of our civilization.

Ranjita Chakrabarty is an IT Program Manager with over 25 years of experience working for companies like AIG, American Express, and BMW Corporation in Project Portfolio Management / Infrastructure/ Strategic Planning, Vendor Management, Business Assessment, Process Design, Technical and Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Managing the projects from initiation to closure. Ranjita is also a gifted artist and singer. She holds a diploma in Fine & Commercial Arts from Birla Academy of Art & Culture. Her artwork is exhibited in the Swiss Art Expo, Zurich, and her songs are recorded and uploaded on YouTube.

Shrabani (Alo) Nandy
Shrabani (Alo) Nandy is a Health Care Administrator, Admission coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health, JFK Hospital. She runs a non-profit organization – Monpanshi helping needies in India and situational needs in New Jersey.
– Distributed 400 dry food packages to Cyclone and Corona affected people in South 24 Parganas.- Donated Rs.1000 to 25 families’ needs.- Distributing 1000 lunch boxes 3 days in a row at the 11 slum areas of New Alipore. – Participated in serving distressed musicians impacted by COVID-19 & Amphan.- Supported 13 Musicians in Kolkata and contributions were sent directly to a beneficiary bank account. – Firmly stand by Durbar Mahila Samanaya Committee during the difficult times of pandemic and subsequent countrywide lockdown.
