Born in the IIT, Karagpur campus, where her father was a Civil Engineer. Moumon became a HR professional after graduation at ITC, Kolkata and then got married to Projit Mitra, an IT professional and migrated to US. Her writings began with deep realization of restrictions imposed on women. Her first writing was on an Indian woman who fell in love with an American and the consequences. However, Moumon’s publications began with a series of poems which got publisher’s attention in Kolkata and on demand for novels, she proved herself to be a committed writer on human issues.

Moumon was recently honored at Saraswati Puja celebration organized by Sreeshti, NJ. Seen in the picture are Ranjita Chakrabarty and Anindita Chattopadhyay. Speaking on stage, Moumon talked about her publications and said, very emphatically, that she writes in Bengali and it is her dream to make every second generation in this country learn to speak, read and write Bengali.
